KCD’s response to COVID-19

Due to the situation with COVID-19 in Cambodia and for safety reasons, from 23.03.2020 KCD has switched the office staff from Phnom Penh to work from home.

We have called all our Phnom Penh staff back from the field in order to avoid any kind of misunderstanding, canceled all the activities that require numbered participants and are now revising our strategies to respond to the situation.

We urge all our staff, beneficiaries, stakeholders and partners to stay safe and take measures to prevent the spread of infection.

We are deeply concerned about the spread of fake news about the virus in social networks, therefore, we have decided to take action to provide true information to everyone interested. Please find time to check and subscribe to our Facebook page to access the accurate information and latest updates about our work.

Keep Calm and Stay Safe!

KCD team.

Say Visal – KCD Project Officer in Germany

Experience exchange is becoming more and more important in contemporary NGO world. Sharing ideas and experiences, conducting study visits and work exchanges – all of these is a powerful tool for young professionals to increase and improve their capacities as well as for experienced specialists to share their knowledge and experience.

Today we are bringing you a remarkable example of KCD’s young professional – Say Visal, a former Child Rights Project Officer, who is doing his experience exchange placement in Germany for already 4 months, being a part of the volunteer exchange program sponsored by Bread for the World.

Get out of your comfort zone to achieve more!

On 18-20th September KCD team has traveled from our cosy Phnom Penh office to Jombok Hoas Training Centre Resort. This was not just a regular teambuilding trip, our goal was to see, how far can we go beyond ourselves.

As you might probably know, KCD is using Forum Theater Methodology in its project activities. Training and implementing Forum Theater definitely requires a certain level of professionalism. Funny enough, no one of us has professional theater background. Thus, it might seem very challenging for our staff to use the method that we have never studied at university.

But life itself is a challenge and as NGO workers we should take it for granted. Every time, one of is using Forum Theater in their work activities, it is a step out of their comfort zone. So we have decided to challenge ourselves even more and to see, how far can we go out of our comfort zone. Read more “Get out of your comfort zone to achieve more!” →

Alain Fressanges 15.09.1948 – 26.07.2019

It is our deepest sorrow to announce the sudden passing of Alain Fressanges. Alain has passed away on 26.07.2019. KCD can not express, what a big loss it is for our organization.

Alain was a highly valuable and inspirational member of our team and a deeply respected part of Cambodian civil society. Coming to Cambodia as a tourist 14 years ago, his big heart simply could not stay away from the poverty and problems that he saw in one remote rural area of the country. So, Alain stayed and decided to devote his energy to serving the Cambodian society.

It is hardly possible to express, how much hid did for Prek Chrey community. He donated all of himself to improve people’s lives there and to establish the civil society in Cambodia. His efforts will always remain with us and we promise to continue the work he has started.

Alain will forever remain a part of KCD, because he is KCD. We will always remain in the hearts of our staff, his friends and community members. For us he was and still is a constant source of inspiration and motivation. Our prayers go out to Alain and his family. We have loved him in life, let us not forget him after death.
